Union County represents a land area of over 600 square miles.  It borders Mecklenburg County which is the home county of Charlotte.  A catalyst to the growth has been the opening of I485 which has enhanced the access to Ballantyne Real Estate and Union County Real Estate.  Within Union County the best known towns are Waxhaw, Marvin, Wesley Chapel, Waxhaw and the county seat of Monroe.  Transferees moving to the Charlotte area make this area a part of their list to review due to low taxes, good schools and generally larger lots.  These factors have in fact contributed to Union County Real Estate as being one of the fastest growing counties in the US.

Union County offers prospective residents the opportunity to purchase their home priced from the $100´s and going up into the luxury home pricing. In fact Longview is an exclusive gated golf course community with homes ranging from near $1million and going up to $3.5 millions.  As well, Firethorne another golf course community is located in Union County adjacent to Ballantyne wilth homes ranging from around $800k and going up to around $1.5 million. Specifically, there are estate and equestrian opportunities available in this particular county.  It is rural in nature but has quickly grown into a more suburban atmosphere with a lot of land as well.  Certainly, you can still see horse and cattle grazing within the county.

Marvin, Weddington and Wesley Chapel are the closest towns to Charlotte.  Those towns offer residents the opportunity to commute to downtown Charlotte in about 45 minutes.  Shopping in Charlotte is ranges from 15 to 30 minutes away from these areas.  Growth has been so significant that there is a new home moratorium however most of the large builders were able to apply for building permits to satisfy growth over the next couple of years.  New school construction is taking place and the county is looking hard at its infrastructure in order to meet current and future growth.  Marvin has a number of higher end luxury neighborhoods as well as Firethorne Country Club.  Marvin is located just 20 minutes from Charlotte and is very close to the Ballantyne Real Estate area of Charlotte.

Weddington and Wesley Chapel are close to the city as well.  Both have been favorite destinations of transferees as they offer the aforementioned benefits of low taxes and good schools.  Housing in both of these towns is affordable.  There are larger opportunities but those are dimishing as these areas are becoming more developed.

Waxhaw is located another 15 minutes from Marvin.  It dates back to the 1700´s and it is steep in tradition.  Waxhaw is best known as the equestrian center of the area.  The downtown area is eclectic steep with history and tradition.  Both restaurants and antique stores frequent the downtown area. www.waxhaw.com Charlotte is moving in this direction.

Monroe has its own infrastructure and is the furthest from Charlotte which makes it a difficult commute into the city of Charlotte.  For those that need to work in uptown Charlotte the longer commute may be a consideration.
